TOOLBOX 2019: Peer Networking Series
Parking & Housing Affordability

Thursday, May 16 from 12:00 - 3:00 pm

The Puget Sound Regional Council is pleased to offer an extended session on the topic of Parking & Housing Affordability at 12th Avenue Arts on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 12:00 – 3:00 pm.

Housing affordability and parking availability are two of the most vexing problems for cities and towns across the region. Traditional parking standards have created an oversupply of parking in many communities, contributing to urban sprawl, traffic congestion, and increased housing costs—especially for people who do not drive. Looking towards 2050, there are opportunities to reimagine parking planning as a way to enhance communities and improve livability.

This work session will take a “deep dive” into this complex topic, with a three-hour session that includes an overview of issues and opportunities related to on- and off-street parking and case studies of innovative and successful parking strategies and programs, as well as walking tours to showcase innovative parking planning in action in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Please RSVP online if you are planning to attend. We have limited space and cannot guarantee attendance without an RSVP.

We will not be able to provide the option to watch remotely due to being at an offsite venue.

An agenda will be available closer to the work session.
